Avon Fire Department Completes Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Training

AVON — Interim Chief Kevin Partridge is pleased to share that the Avon Fire Department hosted a training on responding to lithium-ion battery fires.

The course, hosted by Ready2Respond, a fire training consulting agency, focused on how to effectively respond to fires caused by lithium-ion batteries. These types of batteries can be found in many products, including handheld power tools, cell phones, laptops, and electric vehicles.

In addition to training, the Avon Fire Department has been recently expanding its toolset to include equipment specifically for lithium-ion battery fires.

“We couldn’t have asked for better instructors, Deputy Fire Chiefs Kevin Galligan and Jeffery Marchetti,” Interim Chief Kevin Partridge said. “We thank them for sharing their expertise in how to control these fires.” He also expressed his thanks to the Central Auto Team of Raynham for providing a vehicle for the training.
