Fire Department Permits

Apply for Avon Fire Department permits online. Use the daily open burning form for open burning; use PermitEyes for other Fire Department permits and applications. Paper applications are not accepted.

Apply online
Open Avon’s PermitEyes permitting system. New users should register for an account before applying. Select the Fire Department application that matches your activity or project.

Which Application Do I Need?

  • Home sale smoke/CO inspection: In PermitEyes, select Smoke / CO Detector Inspection (Home Sale). Review the inspection guidance before your appointment.
  • Fire protection system work: Apply for the relevant installation, alteration, testing, or other system permit. An annual Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Impairment Permit is required by the Avon Fire Department for inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire protection systems. Send all ITM reports to fireprevention@avon-ma.gov.
  • Other regulated activities or materials: Fire Department permits may be required for activities such as hot work, hazardous processes, and the storage or use of regulated materials. Permit needs depend on the activity and quantity involved. Contact Fire Prevention if you are unsure which application applies.
  • Open burning: Use Avon’s separate daily open burning permit form and guidance. Do not use PermitEyes for the daily burning permit.

Common Fire Department Permit Types

Select the application in PermitEyes that best fits your work or material. These descriptions are a quick guide; Fire Prevention can confirm the appropriate permit and any supporting documents or inspections.

These examples are not a complete list of Fire Department permits. Apply before beginning work or an activity that requires a permit. Some applications may require plans, supporting documents, an inspection, or a witnessed test. Fire Prevention can explain the process for your project.
